The season has begun

The final race is hardly over and Nick already thinks about the new season.

It was a sensational world championship final which was decided on the final straight. Unbelievable. I am looking forward to watching it on DVD at home. Today we made Formula 1 history. One and a half hour before the start all the drivers met on the start-finish straight and our picture was taken which was a very special moment. After the race there was only chaos. Congratulations to Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari.

Unfortunately we did not play a big role today. The first time in 34 races our team did not score a single point. However, it would be wrong lamenting about a bad season. It was good and according to me it would not have to be over.

My biggest problem today was the start. I just had too much wheel spin, so I literally stuck on the spot. Some of the settings were not okay. Then I had a few good overtaking manoeuvres and gained positions. Later the balance of my car tended to become very difficult and, especially when I was behind Jarno Trulli, I lost downforce. I actually was not even that close but I could still feel the difference.

Later in the race, after I had stopped for fuel, I was behind Mark Webber and tried to fight him, which ruined my tyres. Sometimes the gap between us was bigger sometimes it got smaller but all in all there was not much I could do. When the first rain drops appeared with eight laps to go I gambled and pitted for intermediates. There was nothing to lose. I was tenth, but unfortunately I stayed tenth. Probably it would not have made much of a difference if I had stayed on the dry tyres.

I am flying home tonight and on the 18th of November we already start testing in Barcelona. The season 2009 has almost begun. I am looking forward to it.
